What is GSM?
GSM stands for Global System for Mobile Communication. One of the key features of GSM is the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM), commonly known as a SIM card. The SIM is a removable card containing the user's subscription information and phonebook. This allows the user to retain his or her information after switching handsets.
GSM phones are the most common type of digital mobile phone in service around the world. There are over 700 GSM mobile phone service providers across 218 countries around the world. As the world's largest wireless network, GSM serves 2.7 billion customers - 85% of the world's mobile phone users.
What is an "unlocked GSM handset?"
Unlocked phones are GSM phones that are not exclusively programmed to work on any particular wireless service provider network. Unlocked GSM phones tuned to the U. S. frequencies (850/1900) will work on any U.S. GSM carrier.
What is a SIM card?
The SIM card (Subscriber Information Module) is a removable memory chip that resides inside your phone. It establishes your phone / network connection. It stores your subscriber identifier and phone number as well as your phone directory, text messages, and various other settings. The SIM is secure. Certain sensitive information is either encrypted on the card or stored in the network. Like an ATM card, the serial number of the SIM can be disabled on request if your phone is lost so that it cannot ever be used again. The SIM is the heart of your GSM phone and it provides the advantage of being able to transfer it from one GSM phone to another. This makes changing GSM phones very easy. You keep your SIM and you don't need to change your phone number or lose any of contact info.
Where do I get a SIM Card?
SIM Cards can be obtained from any GSM carrier, virtual carrier or dealers, resellers, and agents of the GSM carriers. In the U. S. the two largest GSM carriers are AT&T and T- Mobile.
What mobile carrier do I use with the LOGO Mobile Phone?
The LOGO Phone will work with any GSM Carrier. You must have a SIM Card from a GSM carrier that operates on the same bands as the phone. The 850/1900MHz bands are supported by the GSM carriers in the United States.
Do I have to train the phone to be able to use it?
No, you can use the LOGO phone in a limited matter without training it, but by training the phone you will have access to the voice operated features. Incoming calls can be received and outgoing calls can be made from the Call Register or the Virtual Keypad without training the phone.
I am having trouble with voice or name dialing
Be sure that the LOGO Phone has been trained for your voice. If you are not sure it was trained properly you can retrain at any time. From the Menu go to Voice Recognition/Voice Training. Voice recognition on all mobile devices is sensitive to very noisy environments, if you find yourself in a very loud place and the voice recognition is not working you should make calls from the Phonebook, Call Register, or Virtual Keypad.
How do I remove the rubber cover on the side to recharge the battery or access the SIM card?
The rubber boots on each side of the phone are designed to fit very tightly to aid in the eater resistance. To remove the boots use your finger nail or a short object like a paper clip or knife blade and very carefully raise the bottom end of the boot and then grab the boot with your fingers and open it completely. Care should be taken to not remove the boot from the phone. It is secured by a plug at the top end of the boot.
My handset fails to turn on?
If the LOGO Phone fails to power up first make sure that you did hold the RED power on/off key down for 3 seconds. If it still does not power on the most likely reason is that the battery is discharged. Recharge the battery according to the instructions priced I the Quick Start Guide and the Users Manual. If the Phone, with a fully charged battery, does not power on then you should cycle the battery disconnect switch that is located in the recharge connector cavity off then back on again. If the phone still does not power up it you should contact Real Phone at the Customer Service information on this site.
How do I increase the speaker volume?
The LOGO Mobile Phone contains a small loud speaker that will allow the user to hold the phone in front of their face instead of by their ear. The speaker is not designed for group use. The volume is controlled by the voice volume setting which can be adjusted during a call by the up and down arrows.
How do you access voice mail?
Voice mail service is provided by your wireless carrier. Voice access will very by carrier. You should consult the carrier that provided your SIM card. By accessing the Messages menu from the main menu key, a voice mail access number and password can be stored in the phone.
How do I enter a number after a call is connected?
If a numeric entry is required after a call is connected, the virtual keypad cannot be accessed by the Options key. The numeric entry should be entered as quickly as possible so the receiving equipment does not time out the call. The LOGO Phone will not be compatible with all requirements of this type.
Can I use a SIM card that I already have in another phone?
Yes, you probably can if the SIM CARD is from a phone that operated on the frequencies that match the frequencies of the LOGO Phone model you have. The LOGO Phone Model R12C operates on the 850/1900MHz bands that is supported by the GSM carriers in the United States.
How many names can I store in the Phonebook?
The onboard Phonebook can store 50 numbers, each with an associated voice tag label that is recorded when the number is stored.
I see the message SIM Card error on the screen, what do I do?
This message generally indicates that the SIM CARD is missing or not installed correctly. It also could be caused if the SIM was removed while the Phone was turned on. To correct the problem turn the phone off, remove the SIM CARD, and reinstall it carefully.
Where do I find the IMEI number assigned to the phone?
The International Mobile Equipment Identity or IMEI is a number, usually unique, to identify a GSM mobile phone. The number can be found on the label on the end of the box your LOGO Phone came in, or you can retrieve the number from the phone by accessing the Menu and going to Settings/Phone Settings/Phone Information/IMEI.
How long does it take to charge the battery?
It generally takes 2-3 hours to fully charge the battery if it is fully drained. The charging circuit will cut off when the battery is charged and a message will appear on the display. It is best to turn the phone off to charge the battery and unplug the charger when the charge is completed.
How do I find my phone number assigned to the SIM card I installed?
You will be given the telephone number when you purchase the SIM card. Most SIM cards will allow the number to be retrieved by the phone. To do this from the Menus go to Settings/Phone Settings/Phone Information/Telephone Number to have the number displayed.
What is the quickest way to make a call?
A call to a number stored in the phonebook or to number residing in the Call Register can be executed most quickly.
